Our Sleep Philosophy

The Sleep Sense™ method was created out of a belief that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn.

I believe that no two children are alike and therefore each child needs certain customization within their sleep. Each sleep plan I create I take into consideration your parenting style,  your child’s sleep habits, needs, as well as what is developmentally appropriate for their age.

Each family that reaches out to me I want you to know that I appreciate you putting your trust in me as your sleep guide. This is something that I do not take lightly and I want you to succeed in. Having me as your personal sleep consultant I will help assist you by staying on track and keeping consistency in order to gain that successful sleep you are dreaming of. I am here to help improve your childs sleep and accomplish those goals that you are wanting and even needing.

My approach to improving your childs sleep is pretty simple:

  1. I’ll give you honest information about why sleep is so important for your child’s wellbeing
  2. I’ll lay out an easy to follow, step by step plan that lets you make some choices about what is the right approach for your child. (All children are different and nobody knows your child better than you do.)
  3. I’ll show you how to measure success. No, you should not expect you child to sleep 12 uniterrupted hours on the first night, although it does happen! I’ll tell you what you should expect along the way

A note about the “crying” question:

A lot of the time parents will say that they do not want to let their child “cry it out” and I get it! No one wants to hear their child cry, however that is their way to communicate to us. Crying is your child’s way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. That’s why I’m always sure to tell parents that my program will most likely involve at least some amount of protest on the child’s part.

Please understand that I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. The reason that The Sleep Sense™ Program is so effective is that it allows you to develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child.
